New Patients

To find out more about registering with a GP please click here

If you are struggling to find a GP Practice please call the Patient Allocation team on 01634 335095 Option 6.

Those who are homeless, vulnerably housed or ‘of no fixed abode’, asylum seekers, refugees and overseas visitors, whether lawfully in the UK or not, are eligible to register with a GP practice even if they have to pay for NHS services outside of the GP practice

When you register we will ask you to complete a New Patient Questionnaire. If you are on regular medication we will book you an appointment with our nursing team for a New Patient Check. If you are over 40 and not on any medication we recommend booking a NHS Health Check.

These fact sheets have been written to explain the role of UK health services, the National Health Service (NHS), to newly-arrived individuals seeking asylum. They cover issues such as the role of GPs, their function as gatekeepers to the health services, how to register and how to access emergency services.

Special care has been taken to ensure that information is given in clear language, and the content and style has been tested with user groups.
